Who Should Go In For Dental Veneers

Cosmetic dental procedures are all the rage today. Many people go in for smile makeovers, dental veneers and other treatments to improve appearance. Dental veneers are ceramic caps that fit on top of teeth, and can improve appearance as well as protect teeth.

There are various reasons why one would want to opt for dental veneers. I got into a small accident and chipped one of my front teeth. My dentist in Toronto recommended that I get a dental veneer for the broken tooth so that it blends in with the rest of the teeth.

One can be dissatisfied with their smile for various reasons. Some people think their smile is 'too gummy' while others may think their teeth are too small or too large. Dental veneers can be part of a smile makeover procedure. Veneers can be used to change the shape of teeth, correct the shape of a single odd tooth, or improve the colour and texture of teeth.

Dental veneers today are usually made of porcelain. Porcelain veneers are known to be tough and long lasting. If being fitted onto a single tooth or a few teeth, they can be matched with the colour and shape of the natural teeth.

Veneers are fitted onto the natural tooth, so the original tooth needs to be shaved off or sculpted and made ready for the fitting. After the preliminary fitting, the dentist can take a look and make the necessary tweaks and adjustments before the final fitting.
